Khal Drogo

Seattle, WA –  Honolulu-born actor Jason Momoa (the title role in the recent Conan the Barbarian, HBO’s Game of Thrones, Stargate: Atlantis, Baywatch) is the latest special guest announced for the upcoming Emerald City Comicon  on March 30th, 31st, and April 1st, 2012 at the Washington State Convention Center. He will be appearing Friday only.

Jason Momoa is poised to be one of Hollywood’s next leading male action stars. Perhaps best known for his role as the warlord ‘“Khal Drogo” in the critically acclaimed HBO series Game of Thrones, based on the popular book series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” by George R.R. Martin, Jason recently took on the iconic role of “Conan” in the Millennium/Nu Image franchise reboot of Conan The Barbarian, directed by Marcus Nispel.  Having also established a large fan base from his portrayal of “Ronan Dex” on the SyFy series Stargate: Atlantis, Momoa’s imposing presence and commanding talent has proven to be a hit with fans and critics alike of the genre.  He was also a series regular on both Baywatch and North Shore.

Momoa is currently in production on Road To Paloma, a road tale which he has written and is set to direct and also star. He was honored with a Rising Star of 2011 Award by the National Association of Theatre Owners at this year’s CinemaCon (formerly ShoWest) in Las Vegas. He is married to actress Lisa Bonet (The Cosby Show) and they have three children together.

Momoa joins previously announced media guests George Takei (“Sulu” from Star Trek), Lea Thompson (Back to the Future, Red Dawn, Caroline in the City), Edward James Olmos (Blade Runner, Miami VIce, Battlestar Galactica), James and Oliver Phelps (“Weasley Twins” from the Harry Potter films), Adam Baldwin (“Col. John Casey” on Chuck, Firefly, Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket), Summer Glau (The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Firefly), Jon Bernthal (“Shane” on The Walking Dead), Laurie Holden (“Andrea” on The Walking Dead, The Shield), Eddie McLintock (Warehouse 13, Bones), Christopher Judge (Stargate SG-1, the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises), Julie Caitlin Brown (Babylon 5, JAG) and Wil Wheaton (Star Trek The Next Generation, Stand By Me).

With record-breaking attendance of over 32,000 fans in 2011, one of Seattle’s favorite weekends has quickly become both nationally and internationally known as a destination point for fans to get up close with comics along with their creators, writers and artists, as well as film and television stars of sci-fi and pop culture, hundreds of exhibitors, games, contests, and beyond!
