Sage Escape: Equinox (part 3)

*Editor’s note: I’m going to start with some recapping from the last issue, so if you haven’t read that far and want to then maybe do that first. Also, there are general plot points of part 3 in my review, so best to be all caught up before going further. Happy reading!

When last we left our hero things looked pretty bleak. Imogen had succeeded in wiping out humanity by blowing up a planet in the final page of our last installment. We pick up in an asteroid field that is the remains of the planet, Callus 3…

With the human race being wiped out, Sage is desperate to find a way of stopping Imogen before she continues on her warpath and finds another race to slaughter, and another, until she is dictator of the Universe. First she must leave Imogen’s ship and reunite with Thantos and her crew. Once there, Sage gets a brilliant idea that involves time travel (!!) to pretty much make it so none of this ever happens. Of course, time travel is a tricky business, so she doesn’t arrive exactly when she would have preferred. There’s always a plan B though, and that is where we leave things…

I’m not stopping there to avoid spoilers or to be coy (although I have left out plenty of detail so there are still a few surprises left). There actually is a bit of a cliffhanger with this one though, and it is my one┬ábit of disappointment in the whole series. I’m generally ok using a cliffhanger to keep the reader engaged, but since this was the end of the series, I was hoping to get at least some closure. It would’ve been nice if we hadn’t left the entire race in peril and instead had left Sage with “ok, solved this problem but now I’m trapped out of time” or something like that. Overall I’m very happy with the series as a whole though, and I’m definitely invested enough to want to continue on with Sage in her further adventures. Which, the next series in the Sage Escape timeline will be “Transhuman”. There’s no release date on that as of now, but you can be sure I’ll be posting about it as soon as that sucker drops. For now, the release date of Equinox (part 3) is Nov 4, and you can always go back and reread the whole series while you’re waiting for new material.
